Born and bred in Winton, Chris Menzies is the rural lawyer for you
Chris Menzies manages our Winton office. Born and raised in Lochiel, Southland, he completed his schooling at Central Southland College. He joined AWS Legal in 2010 after graduating from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Law.
Chris has strong ties to both the local and farming communities, and thoroughly enjoys being able to help those within it. He is easily accessible, whether that is in Winton, Invercargill or Gore. Not wanting to be always stuck in the office, Chris enjoys being mobile and getting out to see client’s on farm. He loves to get a first-hand understanding of his clients, their families and their businesses. Chris sees this as an important part of the relationship, which enables solution based, practical advice to be provided. As the old adage goes, no matter is ever the same, and knowing more about your client, enables a better result at the end of the road.
Chris specialises in
- Property – Residential, Farming and Commercial sales and purchases / leases
- Dairy Farm Equity Syndications
- Contract and Sharemilking positions
- Company formations
- Commercial/business transactions
- Trust and asset protection
- Wills and Enduring Powers of Attorney
Chris is also active within the community away from the law, currently involved in Winton Rotary, President of Midlands Rugby Club and Trustee/board member of the Southland Charity Hospital.
Outside of work, Chris enjoys competing in wide range of sports be it rugby, cricket, basketball and golf, and getting out catching that first fish of the season in Southland’s lakes and rivers.
