Mary Flannery is our esteemed Partner at AWS Legal in Alexandra, who expertly navigates the domains of Trusts, Conveyancing, Estates, and Family Law. Admitted to the Bar in 1987, Mary honed her skills both domestically and in the United Kingdom.
Mary brings a unique blend of professional and personal experiences to her practice. She spent several years focused on raising her family and together with her husband, operating the family farm in Poolburn, Central Otago, experiences that have given her a unique understanding of her clients’ needs. Mary has also, as a direct result of her farming formed an in-depth knowledge of irrigation issues.
In 2004, Mary returned to the law, further developing her skills in various areas including Trusts, Estates, Relationship Property, and Family and Irrigation matters. “What I enjoy the most is building and maintaining relationships with clients, assisting them to grow and evolve.

A committed local, Mary has a focus on addressing the unique issues found in the Central Otago region, particularly those surrounding Health and Irrigation. She serves on a local irrigation company and was previously on the Irrigation NZ board for nine years. She is also a trustee of the Healthcare Otago Charitable Trust, further evidencing her commitment to her community.
Mary is not only recognised for her extensive legal expertise but also for her unwavering dedication to her clients. “I see my work as a service to clients’ needs. My approach is about navigating with clients through both good times and challenging ones. I derive great satisfaction from making a difference and helping people.”
